Serve Foundation

by John Debnam Stroke Gallery

We’re attempting to spin the ball by brushing the ball around the “equator” of the ball.
o You want to reach as high as you can for slice serve. Don’t drop elbow down.
o Remain sideways “longer than you think,” preventing the common problem of
opening up too soon,” facing the net and losing coiling power.
o Establish feet in sideways position, as demonstrated.
o Toss the ball 12-18 inches above where you’ll make contact.
o “Comb your hair back” with racquet in “trophy position” as you extend your arm
to toss.
