The Roger Federer Ball Toss

The ball toss is without doubt the key to a good serve, and over at Brent Abel’s tennis site, he has been showing some very important things about the ball toss a la Roger Federer.

One of the videos explains where your free hand wants to end up after the toss – and in the case of The Fed it is up in the sky above you – as the photo below…but why?

Well in having your hand and arm like the above, it keeps your hitting shoulder up higher than your back shoulder.
So as you move on to hit the ball your back shoulder will then be higher than your front shoulder – what of course is called cart wheeling…

So go out and try this – no instant success guaranteed, but with time I am sure your serve will improve.
